The revamped Matter View Page provides a cleaner layout by automatically hiding empty fields, introduces a Matter Timeline for both Litigation and Corporate matters, and adds new quick-action CTAs for faster navigation and updates. This guide will walk you through how to enable the new form and how to navigate its updated interface.

By default, the old Matter View Form is still active. To switch to the new version:

  • Go to System Settings.

  • Under System Preferences, open Setup and Configuration

  • Go to System Values
  • Search for “Show New Matter View Page.”

  • Set the value to Yes and click Save.

Once enabled, you can start using the updated form across all matters and litigation cases.

2. Accessing the New Matter View

  • Open the Practice module from the main menu.

  • Navigate to the Matters or Litigation Cases grid.

  • Click on any matter name to open its updated view page.

3. Navigating the New Matter View Layout

Top Section

The top of the form includes all essential matter details in one place:

  • Matter Name and Type

  • Client Portal Icon – you can click on the icon to change the visibility in the portal

  • Privacy Status – you can click on it to switch between shared or private

  • Lexa AI Assistant

  • Export Options

  • Actions Menu (Edit, Show SLA Elapsed Time, Archive, Delete, etc.)

Financial Summary

Located directly under the top section, this area displays:

  • Paid: The total amount received from the client

  • Due: The outstanding amount owed by the client

  • Billable: The billable time entries and Approved expenses that you still need to generate invoices for

  • Cap: The capping amount allowed, the remaining cap, the approved expenses and the time entries.

You can also perform quick financial actions such as adding:

  • Time entries

  • Expenses

  • Trust fund transactions

Details Section

All general matter details are now grouped together for easier visibility, including:

  • Matter name

  • Practice area

  • Workflow status

  • Priority

  • Assignee

  • Client and opponent

  • Description

  • Key dates

Previously, these were scattered across multiple sections — now they are consolidated for efficiency.

Workflow statuses can now be updated directly by clicking the status field. A dropdown will appear showing the remaining available statuses, and you can select the one you want from the list.

Contacts & Advisors

In the middle area, you'll find the Contacts and External Advisors sections displayed more clearly.

Custom Fields

On the right side of the page, all custom fields now appear under one unified section, making them easier to locate and manage.

Activity Tab

At the bottom of the page, the Activity tab gathers all related threads:

  • Notes

  • Important Development

  • Audit trails and history logs

This centralizes ongoing activity into one accessible location.

Matter Timeline

One of the important sections is the Matter Timeline, which visually presents:

  • Matter creation date

  • First status update

  • Workflow stage transitions

  • Litigation-specific stages (if applicable)

You can also export the timeline to PNG or PDF for reporting or internal documentation.
