Objectives
- Save and upload Word documents directly to Lexzur
- Edit files from Lexzur using Word, with seamless version control.
Steps
Save Documents to Lexzur
Open the Word file you want to upload.
Make sure the Lexzur Add-on is installed and you're logged in. (Learn how to install the add-on here.)
Save Your Document
Once you've finalized your changes, click on the "Save" button in the Lexzur Add-on panel.
This will open a form to:
Rename the file (optional)
Add keywords (optional)
Choose the save location
Choose Save Location
Upload to Docs – Saves the document in the IDocs module, under the folder of your choice.
Upload to Others – Save the file under a specific record’s Attachment tab in:
Matters
Contracts
Clients
IP
Simply select the module, search for the record name, and click Upload.
Editing and Re-Saving Lexzur Documents from Word
To edit a document from Lexzur (if you wish to use desktop Word, not Word for Web):
Open the record (e.g. Matter or Contract) in Lexzur.
From the Attachments tab, download the file you wish to edit.
Open the file in Word and make your changes.
- Then click Save from the Lexzur Word Add-on. The add-on will prompt you to choose whether to save as a new version or update the existing version of the file.
- If you choose "Same Version", the existing file will be updated, and the latest version will be available under the same file name in Lexzur.
- If you choose "New Version", a new version of the file will be created and saved as part of the document’s version history.
To view updates:
For same-version updates, click the file name or Open in from the Attachments tab to preview the latest content.
For new versions, select the file and click "List Versions" to see all saved versions, including the latest one added via the Word add-on.
