How to Separate Signature and Approval Processes

Objectives:

• Lock signature Until Approval

Steps:

The Contra module now offers the flexibility to separate the signature process from the approval process. This means signatures can proceed independently without requiring prior completion of approvals, enabling both processes to function separately if desired.

Steps to Configure:

• Access System Settings 
• Open Setup & Configuration Under System Preferences

• Open the Contracts/Documents Default Values and Locate "Lock Signature Until Approval"

• When Enabled: (Set to Yes)

  • The signature process cannot begin until the Approval Center has fully approved the document.
  • Signees will be restricted from signing until all approvals are complete.

• When Disabled: (Set to No)

  • The signature and approval processes function independently.
  • Documents can move to the Awaiting Signature status and be signed even if approvals are still pending.

This feature supports both strict workflows, where signing is contingent on prior approvals, and flexible workflows that allow approvals and signatures to occur in parallel. It applies to all workflows, regardless of whether they involve linked statuses.
